CHARTERED ADVISOR IN PHILANTHOPY® DESIGNATION EARNED BY DAVE BINSFELD

dave photoDave Binsfeld, executive vice president of General Southwest Insurance Agency, has earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) professional designation from the Richard D. Irwin Graduate School of The American College, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. The CAP® program is designed for professionals in the nonprofit and financial services fields. CAP® graduates have the tools and knowledge to assist individuals or families in the development and implementation of philanthropic programs, allowing clients to reach their charitable giving objectives while also helping them meet their estate planning and wealth management goals.

Candidates for the CAP® designation must complete a minimum of three courses in philanthropic studies at the Irwin Graduate School and six hours of rigorous, supervised written examinations. The curriculum addresses the advanced design, implementation and management of charitable gifts techniques and strategies, as well as philanthropic tools including charitable trusts, private foundations, supporting organizations, donor-advised funds, pooled income funds and charitable gift annuities.

Dave began pursuing the CAP® designation in October 2017, after realizing it would be of assistance not only to his clients, but also many of the nonprofits he serves. “I saw a real opportunity to give people the ability to use their assets to make a difference,” says Dave. “There are so many creative ways to structure estate planning through charitable giving, and the CAP® designation will allow me to help our clients create something meaningful that continues on into future generations.”

Dave, along with his brothers Joe and John, is a 2nd generation owner of General Southwest Insurance. He has over 30 years experience in the insurance industry and holds several other professional designations including LUTCF® (Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow) and ARMTM (Associate in Risk Management.) For Dave, one of the most rewarding aspects of the business is customizing solutions to meet his clients’ needs. He is passionate about community service, and has been personally involved in many organizations including Phoenix Youth at Risk, Boy Scouts of America, and the local schools. He also advises a wide variety of nonprofit clients. Dave views the CAP® designation as a tool that will allow him assist both his clients and local charitable institutions in realizing their greatest aspirations.
